Oregon Health Insurers Support Breastfeeding!
- Read our December 15, 2011 press release to learn how Oregon insurers are supporting breastfeeding. Innovative insurers collaborative (OHIPP -- Oregon Health Insurers Partnering for Prevention) donated $166,000 to Northwest Mothers Milk Bank!
Hospital Collaborative Update:
- Our December 14th OEBIN collaborative webcast, supported by the Oregon Assocation of Hospitals and Health Systems (OAHHS) went very well and was well-attended. Infant Nutrition webcast recording available here.
- Our first annual hospital summit was a great success. Read more about the Oregon Hospitals Parntering for Evidence-Based Infant Nutrition (OEBIN) Summit, in our OEBIN summit summary and on the MotherBaby Network blog.
- NEW RESOURCE available on this website. Check out the BCO Healthcare section's new pages: Evidence-Based Hospital Practice, Evidence-Based Clinical Protocols, and Research & Resource Library.
Worksite Lactation Update:
- In September, in Washington DC, there was a historic meeting to bring together stakeholders in the new federal workplace protection law -- Reasonable Breaks for Nursing Mothers. US Surgeon General Regina Benjamin, Senator Jeff Merkley (OR) and Representative Carolyn Maloney (NY) opened the day, while business and labor organizations and breastfeeding advocates discussed barriers and solutions to implementation of the law. See the BCO facebook page for pictures from the event.
- Last July, the Milk for Thought film crew came to Portland. BCO facilitated introductions to Portland employers New Seasons Market, Oregon Tradeswoman, Wieden & Kennedy ad firm and Milagroes Children's Boutique. Clips from these interviews are now available!
- Thank you to Sante Mama and Nursing Mothers Counsel of Oregon for helping organize the event, and to all the employers who let the film crew in to learn about your great worksite lactation programs!
